Francesca Răileanu, clinical psychologist

For 8 years I have helped people understand their struggles, clarify their values, and reach their goals. Hundreds of people have come through my practice, each with their own story.

I am a clinical psychologist and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist. I trained and worked in the United States, the Netherlands, Romania, and Spain.

I believe no one should face life's challenges alone. That's where I come in.

My path

  1. My Education

    • Tufts University (Boston, USA) - Bachelor's in Clinical Psychology
    • Vrije University (Amsterdam, Netherlands) - Master's in Clinical Research and Developmental Psychopathology
    • Association for Cognitive Behavioral Therapies and Rehabilitation Programs (Bucharest, Romania) - Training in Individual and Group Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy
    • Autonomous University of Barcelona (Barcelona, Spain) - PhD in Clinical Psychology

  2. Why I became a therapist

I studied psychology because the phenomena that define us always fascinated me. I fell in love with clinical psychology because it is the most logical: mathematics applied to people.

Being a therapist is a privilege: you are present in some of the most important and vulnerable moments of someone's life. I want to remain a bridge between research and practice.

  3. Research

    • Emotion, Brain, and Behavior Lab (Tufts University) - Studied the relationship between emotions and impulsive behaviors
    • Tufts Applied Cognition Lab - Studied the interaction between cognitive tasks and body movement
    • Center of Addiction Medicine - Investigated the use of medical marijuana and its effects on participants' health
    • ZeroPhobia Lab - Investigated the effectiveness of virtual exposure therapy for people with phobias
    • Riper Lab - Researched existing tools that use artificial intelligence and their effectiveness

  4. Calea Victoriei Foundation

I give lectures and workshops on psychology and mental health at the Calea Victoriei Foundation. Curious people, good questions, and concrete tools for managing stress and emotions.

  5. Upgrade Education

I led the development of educational programs: new content, new products, and a team I coordinated and watched grow. This is where I learned to build education that truly reaches people.

  6. Marie Curie PhD

I received a European Marie Curie scholarship for my PhD. I research how we can more faithfully capture each person's experience of mental health problems, from depression to psychosis.

I use methods such as Ecological Momentary Assessment and Citizen Science principles. Next, I will study how therapists and clients react to artificial intelligence in therapy.

  7. Dridu Gives Smiles

I created a monthly personal development program for middle school students in Dridu. We talked about emotions, bullying, and discrimination. And I watched them grow from one month to the next.

  8. Aspire Teachers

I coordinated two educational projects alongside mathematics teachers in Romania. We built resources that connect math to everyday life, and I measured the effect through an impact study.

  9. Terre des Hommes

I facilitated seminars for Ukrainian refugees, alongside Terre des Hommes: resilience, processing trauma, emotional care. A safe space where people found concrete techniques and real support.

  10. Împreună Agency

I counseled middle school students from vulnerable groups, in a project run by the Împreună Agency. We worked on self-confidence and their personal struggles. And the results showed at school too.

  11. Caring Universities

I worked with university students dealing with depression, anxiety, or procrastination. Motivational interviewing, active listening, and emotional regulation strategies. Step by step, toward real progress.

  12. Hyperion University

I taught psychology in English to first-year students and created the course materials. I love making complex ideas accessible, and watching students develop a taste for psychology.
